Transformer vs Horizon

In the race of next generation of hybrid convertible laptops or desktop cum tablet PC’s, several manufacturers have produced wonderful products. In this post, we are going to discuss two similar products which are going to compete for head to head against each other this year. The Asus’ Transformer and Lenovo’s Idea Center Horizon. Both are desktop cum tablet PCs with really interesting looks and uses. In short, we are going to discuss theTransformer vs Horizon war.

ASUS Transformer

Transformer vs Horizon Comparison

In terms of display resolution both of the machines have a full HD 1920*1080p resolution with a 16:9 widescreen viewing angle. However, the main difference comes in the screen size. Where Asus’ Transformer has a screen size of 18 inches, Lenovo’s Horizon takes this concept to an entirely new level. It has a gigantic screen size of 27 inches. Just imagine holding a tablet of such a huge size. It is definitely going to be an interesting experience for at least some of the technology geeks.

Lenovo Horizon

In this regard, Horizon can be easily confused with a 27 inches TV if no keyboard or a mouse is attached to it. It’s 1.1 inches thick and slightly thicker than its competitor Asus Transformer, which is only 0.7 inches thick. The display itself is sleek and would be a very stylish addition to an office or a living room. It can be adjusted on its stand, and the user has the freedom to change its height up to 90 degrees.
As compared to this, Transformer has more sort of a PC like a look. It has a much thicker depth than horizon as when the tablet and dock are combined, the thickness is 6.4 inches. However, the tablet alone is just 0.7 inches thick. Both the devices have managed to keep their hardware contained within their relatively slim bodies.

The Transformer with its relatively smaller size wins the race in this area. It is just 6 pounds to carry and can be easily moved anywhere you want. However, Horizon is nearly 17.8 pounds in weight and cannot be used as a normal tablet.

Operating Systems
Here the Transformer is again ahead of Horizon because it contains two operating systems. It runs both the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and Windows 8. However, Horizon only runs either Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro.
Processing Power

Here is the interesting part. Although, with their slender bodies, these both may feel like decent machines to run your normal programs. However, they contain some of the most hardcore specifications. The Transformer has not only a Nvidia Tegra 3 Quadcore CPU, but it also has an Intel Core i7 or an i5 processor in the docking. Also, a Nvidia GT 730M is installed in it, which is really good for most of the latest games to run on. Similarly, the tablet has 2GB of a separate memory while the standing dock contains 4GB of internal memory. The tablet has 32 GB of mobile storage while the dock has either 1 TB or even 2 TB or memory installed in it.

The horizon only contains only one processor, which shouldn’t be underestimated as it’s a powerful one. It contains up to Intel Core i7 with a Nvidia GeForce GT 20M 1GB graphics card with DirectX 11. It has 8GB of internal memory and it comes with both, 1TB of internal space while and optional 64 GB solid state drive. So both the machines are ahead of each other in some specifications.

Accessories Transformer vs Horizon

Both the hybrids come with a keyboard and mouse but Horizon comes with several gaming accessories like a joystick, striker, and an E-dice. Horizon can be regarded as oriented towards enhancing the gaming experience.

Final Verdict Transformer vs Horizon

In our comparison of Transformer vs Horizon, we came to the point that both the devices are wonderful in their own aspects. However, if you’re interested in a more mobile device with the capability to switch between Android and Windows 8, then Transformer is the choice you should make. Similarly, if you’re more interested in playing some quality games on big screen, then Horizon is no doubt, the best choice you have.
